I applied a little mori mori putty to the cracked areas and some of the air bubbles. The putty is a 2-part polyester putty that sets up in a few minutes, so I had to apply it carefully, but rapidly with a toothpick. After the putty set up, I sanded the excess putty down with a diamond needle file and sanding sticks.

With most of the putty and sanding done, it's time to apply another coat of primer to check the quality of the work.

I added a length of brass rod to strengthen the connection between the forward pod the the rest of the ship.

Hmmmmm. I missed a couple of air bubbles that were trapped during casting! You can see them on the right side of the circular structures on the engine section! Well, I don't think I could adequately rebuild them out of putty, so...

...I bypassed the main reactor as well as the FTL field manifold. Oh. In english, that means I drilled out the air bubbles and superglued some lengths of .15" silver solder to hide the imperfections.

The base coat is Vallejo's Deck Tan. I also preshaded areas to help define the structures, and give the paintjob more interesting tonal variations. The preshading color is simply the base color that I darkened with a few drops of black and german brown.

More of the same effect for the underside.
