Kit # 06652
Scale: 1/24
Produced: 2005

Here's Revell AG's Tri-Fighter. The 5.4 meters long Tri-Fighter is produced by Colla Designs and Phlac-Arphocc Automata Industries and used by the Seperatist forces in their bid to seize Coruscant, the galactic seat of govenment. The droid tri-fighter is essentially a flying robot, with an onboard brain and sensors that allow it to function on its own. It carries 4 laser-cannons, 3 on it's distinctive curved arms, and one in front, directly beneath it's binocular photo-eyes. The Tri-fighter can also carry a variety of weaponry on a cradle on it's underside.

The kit is nicely made and because it's a pre-painted snap kit, can easily be put together in short order. There were no real fit problems. Although the details seem a bit simplified, and the engraved lines might be a bit softer than I would prefer, the overall quality of the kit is excellent. It's a nice little project for a rainy afternoon and perfect for a novice model builder. Going further, I think that with a more accurate, and detailed paint job and with some basic model building techniques and detailing, it would build into a display piece that even an accomplished model builder would be happy to show off. This kit is a little hard to get as all of Revell AGs Star Wars kits are only sold throughout Europe. Although several state-side vendors have aquired limited stock for resale here in the US. This kit (as well as the rest of the series) can be found at:

Echoing the distinctive ring shape of the Trade Federation's Battleship from Episode I: The Phantom Menace, the droid Tri-Fighter made its brief, but memorable appearance at the beginning of Epidsode III: Return of the Sith, at the Battle for Coruscant.
Here's the droid's "face". It's too bad the optic-sensor "eyes" are only painted in instead of being clear lenses. It would've been nice to try and squeeze some LEDs in there to light them up!
The droid "brain" sits at the center of a couple of nested cradles that allow for 3 axis of rotation. Pretty neat! The brain itself is reminiscent of R2-D2s metal dome with the blue pie wedge shapes.
For heavy ordinance, the Tri-Fighter sports a pair of buzz droid missiles mounted to an under-slung carriage.
The triple engines are pretty interesting looking and looks like they can be lit!
